id·i·o·syn·cra·sy

1. a characteristic, habit, mannerism, or the like, that is peculiar to an individual.
2. the physical constitution peculiar to an individual.
3. a peculiarity of the physical or the mental constitution

So I was at work having lunch which is a little akin to sitting in the local morgue on some days, the room is a bit stark and cold, the conversation non existent and just the occasional crunch of an apple or rustle of a newspaper.

Newspapers I might add seem to be the most popular item in our lunch room, the desire to read the daily paper is it seems the number one priority on most peoples agenda.

There are several people eating lunch and I was actually leafing through an old Woman's Day wondering how I was going to disguise the chicken and corn soup I had just dropped on my shirt when a visitor to our office opened his rather large backpack and pulled out several newspapers.

Now believe me in our rather bleak lunchroom he may as well of opened Pandora's box on the latest office sex secrets it doesn't get much more exciting than this.

Some people raise their eyebrows and quickly return to their lunch, after all they are well trained in ignoring the unusual.

I on the other hand am merely a novice, as was another lady who started two weeks ago and was actually working with the Newspaper man for the day.

And she asked the question that we secretly all wanted to 'Why so many papers?'

Our Branch Manager's ears pricked up at this point and my spoon stayed in my soup in anticipation of his response, I mean we are talking ten or twelve papers here.

Apparently he reads the first four pages, the last four pages and saves the middles to read later.

Obviously days or weeks later on some occasions.

My face must have been an open canvas, as our Branch Manager with a faint hint of a smile says 'Well Trudi, don't just sit there, tell us what you think'

Now hindsight is the wonder of wonders, I have several fantastic response's that would suit the occasion now but of course my mouth in its usual unrestricted fashion blurts out exactly what the brains first thoughts where.

'Its bloody bizarre, interesting but completely bloody bizarre'

Newspaper man says most people think its a bit OCD and explains he needs to read everything in the paper eventually otherwise he may miss some great financial news or business opportunity.

And I'm thinking honey by the time you get to it the market will have crashed.

This of course I manage to keep to myself as I have my mouth back under control.

So I guess he has his own little idiosyncrasy.

Which led me to wonder what my own is.

And I can only think after sitting there and telling some poor guy he was a bit bizarre mine may well be opening my mouth before thinking.

Family Portrait

Well it arrived! Our first family portrait for some time.

It was one of those things that you just never get around to doing, its too hard, your to busy, hubby doesn't want to, the kids don't want to the list of excuses goes on and on and on........

But we FINALLY did it!

The fridge!

h gWell Madam L, I have dutifully taken a picture of the fridge!

How blardy drab is it? The spice cupboard full of secrets would have been infinitely more appealing but the fridge you get.

Now this was taken on Saturday, typically, Saturday is the day before shopping in this house so the only ingredients remaining in the fridge are for that 'Oh my god what WILL I call it sort of meal'.

I shop strictly week to week and ONLY buy what is on my list for my carefully planned 7 days of culinary delights, but sometimes the best laid plans go astray and I'm left scratching my head on Saturday!

Each weekend the girls go through the recipe books and pick a meal each, and then I throw in a couple of super duper healthy ones that are normally greeted with sighs and rolling eyes but strangely gobbled up in seconds and requested over and over............

The girls all have a night to cook, yes they cook. No child would last a day in my house without the ability to cook, clean and say please and thank you, in return they have unlimited hugs and kisses and a less frazzled mum who can get through this busy world of fulltime work and mum to four with working away from home DH.

So here it is:

Not very inspiring is it? Oh and you may well ask WHAT did we have for dinner that Saturday night? Well I threw together a salad, snags and wedges, ok definitely NOT 5 star or on the top 10 healthy meals list but hey the kids loved it!

A New School

Well a couple of weeks ago we made a huge decision to change the girls from a public to a private school.

It wasn't a decision we made lightly, and nor do I think it is a public vs private school debate. In this instance our school was just not meeting the needs of our girls and didn't display the sorts of examples I wanted my children to be following.

Sooooo I started the search for 'the' school. Fortunately their wasn't many on the short list otherwise I may still be looking however we did have a couple of choices a small private christian school (under 150 children from Kinder to Y12), a private catholic school, a boarding school in Launceston (oh it WAS tempting for about five minutes on a bad 'sister fighting' day, and a mid size christian school.

In the end deciding was pretty easy, it was made when we visited the 'mid-size' christian school and felt at 'home', it was as simple as that, it just felt 'right' for all of us.

Samantha, Jessica and Emily all attend the Burnie campus which has Kinder to Year 6 and approx 150 students, while Sarah travels to the Ulverstone campus which has around 400 Kinder to Year 6 students , eventually of course the younger three girls will travel to Ulverstone as well however for now, it gives Sarah some much appreciated 'time away' each day.

Yesterday was their first day and much to my relief it all went REALLY well, everyone was happy and spoke about nice children and nice teachers!

Of course we now pay more in school fees than rent and its going to be a lot longer till we buy a house, but what price limit is their for a child's education and happiness?

Here they are all dressed and ready to go!

More puppies.

Well its been a busy week. Puppies are a LOT of work no doubt about it.

First of all they are NOISY! And second, Im not used to having their mad cap labrador mummy inside 24/7 and to be honest she is driving me just a little crazy!

We ending up with EIGHT beautiful puppies. They are the most gorgeous colours, really really lovely shades of fawn, brown and black.

Here they are with their proud mum!

One little puppy, Two little puppy

YAWN!

Milly was banging on the door at about 12.30am, over and over, arghhhhhhh, when I woke up a bit more I realised I could also hear very loud mewling sounds.

Opened the back door and a wild eyed labrador rushes past me and heads straight for my room NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Yes straight up on my bed ::) ::) Blergh!

I drag Milly out into hallway and throw blankets on the floor, by this time the girls are all up having heard the commotion (or me swearing at the mess on my bed).

I try and calm Milly and tell the girls to grab some old towels and the torch and bring any puppies in from the shed.

Well this is obviously another chance for the girls to argue and moan about who should do what on the little adventure.

Sarah: 'Samantha go and get another towel'

Samantha says 'Jessica go and get another towel'

Jessica says 'Emily go and get another towel'

Emily says 'MUUUMMMMMM we need another towel'

And as I am trying to calm a very anxious Milly I can tell you what I would LIKE to do with the towl right about now!

Eventually we have two puppies brought in, and one very relieved looking Milly.

WHEW! Will there only be two? I have no idea but now they are settled Im going to catch some zzzzzzzzzz.
